How WALL LIGHTS came to life

Imagine a concept where you can combine small glass bulb lamps with over 200 velvet colors to create textile wall hangings. This wonderful tool gives direction to the kind of atmosphere and experience you want in any space. From soothing to energizing, from subtle to theatrical, from colorful to subdued. Together with the charm of the small lamps and the material, this light object offers a wide range of possibilities.

ORIGIN AND FLYING START

It all started with my vision of a children’s hospital ward. I envisioned wall hangings with beautiful integrated little lights that would provide some comfort and reassurance during the night. To create an example of what a WALL LIGHT [originally called Laplamp in Dutch] could do, I made a series of 5 very different floor to ceiling objects for my very first exhibition at the Yksi design gallery in Eindhoven. One of them was immediately acquired by the Textiel Museum as part of their collection. Another was published in my first and exclusive shoot for Elle Decoration.

CONCEPT AND BACKGROUND

This highly rewarding concept marks the beginning of an ongoing evolution. In the smaller variant, customers can select from over ten distinct colors of mini lightbulbs, available in transparent and mother-of-pearl finishes, as well as matte or glossy options, either in solid colors or mixed. These are beautifully complemented by the A-quality rest materials of 100% organic cotton velvets from A House of Happiness.

In the larger version, there is a selection of seven colors of shatterproof LED bulbs, offering a range of matte, transparent, warm, and cool white light options. The most remarkable feature remains the transformative effect of a single, thoughtfully selected WALL LIGHT, whether Large or Small, which can significantly enhance the ambiance of any room.

Since its introduction, this lighting solution has graced numerous homes, public spaces, businesses, care facilities, retail shops, waiting areas, and even select art centers and museums. Among the most striking installations are a trio designed for an award-winning wine bar in New York and a vibrant orange fixture located in a home’s stairwell, both towering approximately five meters and equipped with 100 lamps each.

WALL LIGHTS Large

In the large version, you can select from six colors of durable LED bulbs, with options for matte, transparent, warm, and cool white light. It pairs well with various organic velvets and is also entising in a broad selection of C2C satin solid colors.

It’s most amazing quality is how a single carefully selected WALL LIGHT, whether Large or Small, can change a room and set the ideal atmosphere in any area.
All WALL LIGHTS are energy-efficient, and the bulbs can be replaced at any height using a hoist.
